Our people are good people. The idea is that only a good person could love the person they love. It is because you are a good person that you can appreciate a good person. You may have a lot of flaws but at least you have someone who loves you and appreciates your good qualities.
When you have a bad person in your life, sometimes the only way to feel happy is to be happy that you have someone who appreciates all of the good things about you. That’s why, when we say “Our people are good people,” we mean that we have many positive qualities and we don’t have many negative qualities.
